Bonding over Nails

Aw, today Oppa and I spent some quality time together! ♥

It was so fun! Guess what we were doing? Making nails!

Halloween is approaching, and I wanted something festively different for my sausage fingertips. But alas, Yukiumi no longer carries Halloween nails! I was left no choice but to make my own. >.<

Who would have thought that Oppa would voluntarily sit down next to me and patiently help me mold and paint for the next few hours! (Yes, it took me several hours! Total newb, that's why.) I never thought I'd have a boyfriend who would be so into making nails with me! ^^

I think the nails turned out pretty OK for two amateurs! You can tell it's homemade though... Oh well! Here's a small picture so you can't laugh at the details:

I take no credit for the design (at least I'm honest....) I improvised off a few magazine designs. While we were making the nails, Oppa noticed that one of the magazine models had big front teeth.
He then proceeded to explain to me that "the Japanese trademark is their rabbit teeth. Here, you know what Koreans think of Japanese? We draw Japanese people like this:
Rabbit teeth, and those big shoes, you know?"
HAHAHA! So funnyyyy, what the heck is that?!?! I don't even know what to say. In return, I drew him this picture of Korean people:
"Actually, that does look like Korean!" he said. Damn right it does!

Oppa also made clay figurines of us two:

Aww, it's so cuteeee~~! I love his little fat feet and his pointy acorn head~! I also like how he couldn't figure out how to do my hair, so he gave me a heart to compensate my baldness. Overall very cute right? :)

He said, "You see your hands? They were actually meant to be boobs...But since they look like hands...mm, I think I'll just leave it."

That sick pervert....Maybe this is his way of telling me his ideal girl has big square-ish G-cup boobs, humongo lips, and a nice round butt.  =.=

All in all though, I had a good evening! Halloween nails, laughs, giggles, and sweet cheek kisses. Teeheehee. Nighty night!

Suspicious Oppa Behavior

So lately I've been cooking a lot more than usual.

Picture this: Boyfriend plays on computer while girlfriend dutifully cooks dinner alone in the kitchen. Boyfriend comes over, takes a peek, steals a bite, and returns to the computer until the girlfriend calls, "Dinner's ready!" Then he rushes over and (gratefully) stuffs his face.

Typical, right? Actually though, in that story above, usually it's ME that is the boyfriend, haha!! Oppa is the warm caring one that cooks while I hover around him, tasting it when he's not looking, hehehe. (But I'm the one that does all the gazillion dishes!!)

Secretly though, it's because I refuse to cook in front of him. When we first met, he decided to go all KINDERGARTEN on me and make fun of me as his way of expressing his affection. So one day he insulted my cooking, saying he 'would never go to a restaurant and pay to eat this food.' Ever since then, I've been too embarrassed to cook for him. WITH GOOD REASON, right?! Oh my, he was such a jerk at first, thank goodness I whipped some good sense into him.

But anyways! LATELY he's been wanting me to cook him breakfast and dinner.

Excuse me, say what??? Mr. Unappreciate-Airi's-Cooking-and-Dishwashing-Skills suddenly wants me to wake up earlier than him to cook breakfast?

Ho hum, such unusual behavior...I wonder if he's up to something unfaithful....lalalalala
Hehehe, just kidding~~

But all is good. To be honest, I actually don't mind cooking for him! I was just slightly surprised by these sudden out-of-nowhere requests. Otherwise, cooking for him--and him liking it--makes me feel like I am being a very caring, good girlfriend. Ya know what I mean?

See y'all later~

P.S. Listen to this song!! Me loves it!

Shorten by HOW MUCH (or more help please on s2172)

I knew when I made up the skirt that I alterations would also be needed on the coat.
On the skirt I had to shorten it by 10inches, to keep the proportions correct I did 1inch off the yoke, 4inches off the main skirt body and 4inches off the pleated hem.

Now then the coat is so long 54 inches and I am so damn short that I have to shorten it to 41, even then this will be as long on me as it is in the pattern picture.

So my question is how do I shorten this by such a huge amount.
Do I,
  • alter the paper pattern first and run the risk of the curved edges not matching up.
  • make up one back half and front section in calico, then shorten it, take it apart and use that as my pattern.
  • I can't think of any other methods.
I also think I may need to forgo the pocket as that may be too low down. I don't mind this.

As on my last post about this outfit, again I greatly appreceate all answers from you lovely sewing bloggers out there,
Many thanks in advance from a very mystifed Sew Vala. xx

Good morning, Taffeta Help please,

Morning everyone, How's your projects going this week?

For me exciting and unsure, Is there anyone out there who could help I am taking a bit of a leap in my abilities I know. But I figure if I dont stretch myself I am not going to learn new techniques. So this is where I am stuck.

I am making Simplicity 2172 just the skirt and coat. I have not made a skirt before so all is new and never worked with taffeta ether. I didn't realise when I bought the fabric it is exactly like the picture on the front.

So to my problem the pleated bottom section, they reaaly stand out and will not hang flat.

I basted and basted.
will they hang flat if the skirt is left to 'hang'?
Should I keep ironing them? Will heat from the iron spoil the fabric?
Should I sew small tucks to keep them in place? or will that just make them billow out in the middle?

I also could not iron the creases out of the fabric. I can iron them in when I first did the pleated section they were fine.
But after much handling around the sewing table they seem to gone gone wild.
Any and all help will be much appreachated , I now have 7 days left to make the coat and also a steam punk cape caot for Mr S as well as the final touched to the Nepeta outfit. So that we can attend expo in style, on Sat 29 Oct. Ok off to the cutting table am I.
