What I've been up to lately

If you’ve noticed that I haven’t written any full-on reviews lately, I apologize! I haven’t gotten a photo-setup put together at my new place yet, but it’s a work in progress! Work also keeps me preeeetty dang busy Monday through Friday! Sometimes on the weekend as well!

But since Lunar Year is coming up, I get a long weekend this time, woohoo~! I’m heading up to Seoul tomorrow night—which might end up being a bad idea, considering most businesses will probably be closed for the holiday—but after Saturday, I’ll be able to catch up on blogging!

Until then, here are a few snippets of what I’ve been up to:

(Forewarning: This is quite long and wordy! It’s mostly me rambling about my life~)

Hyundai Department Store:
A few weeks ago, I went to the Hyundai Department store with some coworkers and browsed around.

This is what the makeup floor looked like:

This was the Benefit island! I thought it was so cute~

The girl working there (in the bottom photo) had an orange gradient/lip tint thing going on. I guess that must be popular nowadays! I want to try!

I felt like a loser for not buying anything—especially since I had to fight off all the salespeople rushing to assist me—so I urged myself to splurge on an eye cream from Shiseido. I actually had a lot of fun purchasing it, since the salesladies were so cute and nice~ They even thought I was a high school student! That made me happy, of course! ^o^ Not to mention, they weren’t the first—and hopefully not the last!—people to say that. I’ve been told that I look younger and better in real life than I do in photos!

We then went to to the 6th floor to hunt down a restaurant for lunch. We passed by this Pororo Cafe (or was it Pororo World? I forget). Pororo is a little penguin character that's very popular among kids. Look, you can see all these parents lining up to buy tickets for their kids!

There's even a ginormous sandbox where the kids can play! See how they're all wearing protective suits and the parents are off to the side taking photos? Cute cute~

In the end, we decided to eat at a Chinese restaurant! These were the dimsum dishes! Here we have a froggie and snowman stuffed with delicious red bean:

I myself ordered black bean noodles. T’was alright, but I’ve had better!

After we ate, I went to the bathroom. This is where it goes downhill! I ended up leaving my Shiseido bag (with my other goodies I ended up buying later) inside the bathroom stall, only to remember two hours later! Of course it was long gone by then, but my coworkers still had hope! We approached a worker (in a suit) standing by the escalator to inquire about a lost and found.

He immediately picked up his cell phone, made a phone call, and assured me in his deep voice, “I will find your bag.” We giggled because he was so serious and determined to save us, like Superman! Next thing you know, it’s paging on the intercom! He took my number so that he could contact me if he found it, and off we went.

He didn’t find the bag. As expected, right? I found out later when he texted me that he was a security guard! Who would have guessed?! Dressed to the nines in his black suit and red tie, with his stylish perm…a security guard! Not at all like the grumpy, stout uniformed security guards back home! I also found out later that he’s a bit of a creep as well... Such a shame...

Company Dinner:

Then this past Friday we had a company dinner at a Chinese restaurant (Chinese again!). Somehow aegyo came up into the conversation and the next thing you know, all the men (30-50 year olds) are practicing their aegyo! Acting all cute and baby-like while asking their noona coworkers to feed them, hah!

The ultimate cherry-on-top was when they took photos and everyone pulled out the “pwoing pwoing~” pose! (As seen on your right!) Again, these were men aged 40ish and above, including the very important Vice President!

I was so happy to see how cute and lighthearted they were! I like cute and childish adults, whereas I *can’t stand* overly alpha or aggressive people. I can’t even describe how adorable my other coworker is. He’s in his early 30s, a young father, and…simply adorable. He looks JUST like MC Yoo. He’s so sweet, and he makes the cutest sounds and sing-song melodies. I don’t think he even means to...but I like it!

As an aside: In America, it was hard for me to find people to connect with. But here, people get me! They get my personality, they get my jokes and punchlines, and they get my interests. Nobody judges me for being childish or passive. I don’t get stomped on or surpassed if I choose not to be aggressive, arrogant, or alpha at work. (∩_∩)

Company Field Trip:
Last Monday we also had a company field trip. We went to the beach. It actually snowed that morning, so I thought the trip would be canceled, but nope! We marched forward, driving 2 hours to the beach on a snowy day. During the meal, I had to drink out of the same soju glass as the president, who happens to be an old man.

It basically went like this: He calls me over and hands me his cup. He pours me a drink, and I drink it. (It was Cola, because I don't drink~) Then I give him the cup back—remember, this is his cup to begin with—and I pour him a drink. Then he drinks it. After a few awkward minutes of sitting idly (since I can’t really speak Korean), I’m then dismissed. Did I mention that he did the same thing (i.e., shared the same cup) with several other coworkers before it was my turn?

Selca:
Last but not least, I was playing with some lighting effects on some of my selca photos! My sister and I normally have problems with filters and concealing the true colors of a photo, so I tried not to overdo it! How did I do? >.<

I wish I could just sleep all day~~ Kekeke~ I'll have you know, I tried sooo hard to make myself look genteel in this photo!

This is the nekomimi that Melanie made! I hear that a lot of blood went into making this, so I wear it proudly!

This is my attempt at the annoying puffer-fish face that I see some Asian girls make! I couldn't make my cheeks as round and puffy as they do...so nope, not kawaii when I do it…

Toodly doos!
