Late summer Roses Dress, Plain Pattern Project 1

Wow its been over a week since I have had chance to get my hands on the laptop long enough to do more than check emails.
Alot has been done in that time.

So before I get ahead of myself here is the finished Plain Pattern project dress 1. Hosted by newvintagelady
My choice was
Butterick 6747 from 1953. Which I bought from the lovely Tina at what-i-found.
With fabric chosen to be as close to the pattern image as possible. However after I had constructed most of the dress I realised I should have done a constrasting colar, ah well.

I wanted to do some proper outside pics so me and the lovely Mr S went to Letchworth  Garden City to do the shoot as its has some very cool art deco buildings.

The cinema in Letchworth, How wonderful are those windows.
Showing a bit of leg outside of the town hall, Oh my. I tried to dress with apropiate accessories, vintage gloves and a vintage handbag. Although I have to admit I can only go so far as my obession for wild shoes is always present (Biba shoes, I love you). As for the hair, well it has taken me many many years to accept I have what can only be described as side show bob hair, some days it looks great but mostly it dont. And on this day no way was it going to co-operate.

Ah yes back to the dress the only alteration I did was to the length, being under 5ft meant lots of shortening.

And as I would expect of any dress like this there's always going to be a Marilyn Moment.

On the whole I love this dress , I have already made dress 2, which I wore to my nephews wedding at the weekend. Pictures to follow shortly.

Happy sewing all you lovely people. Sew Vala

And so on to new projects

And so on to new projects.

Currently on the sewing table are
  • Nepeta - cos play outfit for youngest daughter
  • Captain Jack Harkness cos play outfit for eldest daughter
  • and Loud shirt number 4
here's a sneek peak at progression so far
Nepeta- You may remember I have been asked to re-create this but with cat ears not horns.
I used this simplicity pattern, the cat woman hat for the pattern. I didn't know if it would work as its for synthectic leather and I was using fleace.
She was very pleased with the result, but similing for the camera is not 'cool'

The Captain Jack Harkness is still to be started

Thats it for the moment except to show off another shoe obsession, well botts actually they have everything, buckles, laces and zips.

My winter footwear is sorted, How about you.

Happy sewing you lovely people Sew Vala x

Weekend Thoughts

It's getting chillier by the day, which means...Autumn is coming, yayyy!!! ‘Tis my favoritest season ever! I loooveeee the overcast weather and cool breezes~~ My ultimate favorite thing about cold weather is when you bundle up and go outside: if your face is exposed, the chilliness freezes your cheeks up, but underneath, the rest of your body is still toasty warm! This way, you get to sample the refreshing cool breezes without actually suffering the bitter coldness! Ah, it's the best~

Anyways, it was Oppa's birthday today! But since we couldn’t wait, we already had our simple/frugal festivities on Friday. My birthday is next week, so we got ourselves a gift to share: Kirby's Epic Yarn!
This game is SO cute! The fabric effect makes everything so adorable, it makes me want to turn into yarn toooo...Ah, playing this game is constant eye-candy indeed!
Just a random screenshot to show you how cute this game is!
Anyways, today was DIY hair makeover for me and Oppa! I cut his, he bleached mine.
His hair grows so so fast (why do guys hair always grow so enviously fast?) but since he hides in lab all day he doesn't want to pay for haircuts...which leaves me to the task! Normally I do a decent job, but today he was rushing me so he could return to his MC Yoo shows! Nonetheless, the outcome was cute…. like a little boy with a bad haircut kind of cute:

But I guess he was happy.

He patted his head and decided, “I think this is your best haircut so far!”
Then he looked in the mirror. "Hey!! I look so cute right? Like the little things that squirrels like!"
"You mean acorns?"
"Yeah! It looks like an acorn!"
-.- An...acorn?

Actually, I see what he means.

Oh well! He bleached mine right after, but I'll save that for another post. Baibai!

Clear Nail Dilemna

Hello, just a quick tip for clear fake nails!

I've mentioned Yukiumi in my old posts before, but I just can't get over it. I absolutely LOVE these little nails! It's definitely "kawaii sweet," with all the strawberries, cherries, oranges, and flowers; it's like a little fruit garden on your fingertips! Squeal-worthy!

Aw man, one thing I hate about roots is that it makes your hair look oily, even when it's not! Oh well, Oppa will bleach it for me this weekend, teehee!

Anyways, I want to caution you on something I discovered today!

If you wear clear fake nails, try to avoid cheap nail tape.....I had bought some really CHEAP nail tape that was more of a clumpy gooey film than tape (brown, by the way...). Yet it was very adhesive, so removing all of the brown goo from under the nails was difficult. As a result, when I wore the nails again today, instead of a nice clear finish, I saw little brown discolorations under the nails! Waaaaahhhh my beautiful nails!!!Photobucket Cheap nail tape OK for colored nails, but not clear ones!

I don't know about nail glue, but I'm assuming that the residual glue left on the nail will build up, and if it's lumpy it will show. Not sure though, just a guess! Anyone else have experience with this?

New Blog

Welcome to my new blog!

Please don't be blinded by the excessive pink...it was hard work on my end! My wrist cracked maybe 10 times while I was mousing over the past week. Yet I'm still not happy with my banner, since I look like a lazy-eyed Japanese crossdresser. ADMIT IT, I doooo!!!

Ahem, anyways. Allow me to explain the inspiration for my pinked-out layout!

  1. My blog is where I record my thoughts.
  2. My thoughts come from my mind.
  3. My mind is where I spend most of my time.
  4. ∴ , it is logical that my blog layout reflect my imagination

As such, I would say that this blog--and its layout--are a close representation of the world I live in (inside my head) which is vey pink of course! Do not be misled though, for I am still manlier than my Oppa. Korean men, tsk tsk, only LOOK manly until you see a spider...Jk jk~

I have to say though, switching to a new blog is an odd feeling. It feels like a new start not only for me recording my thoughts, but also for my thoughts themselves. I mean, I almost feel like a new person with this new layout! Don't laugh! It's just like the refreshing feeling you get after a very drastic hair-change/cut, you know?

Thanks for stopping by!

Debi's giveaway and my current projects.

In case you didn't know, the lovely Debi from over at my happy sewing place is having a fantasic giveaway for this gorgeous dress
hop on over to see her fanstic blog about the Gatsby picnic, which looks like a very cool day.

I have been a bit quiet on the blogging front this week, as my daughters laptop is poorly so she has been using mine. which has given me time to work on my current projects.

I have finally finished the
Dress one . Although I haven't taken any finished pictures yet. I want to do some 'proper posing' pics outside in a suitable place. They would be much better than taking them on Betsy which is my usual thing.

The other item under my sewing machine this week is finally started the cos play out fit for my daughter.

No Problem i said. eek.

Luckly she wants the blue hat with cat ears and not horns.

So I'm back off to carry on with that and hopefully tonight I can 'remove' my laptop from her 'Nepeta' fingers (thats the charater above) and let you all know how I am getting on.
